LG Electronics released LG-KH 5200 using Android

LG Electronics in South Korea Wednesday released a Google Android OS-based smart phone LG-KH 5200. The company hopes to promote the relatively weak sales of smart phones.

LG is currently facing competitors including Nokia, RIM and Apple, which plans to launch 20 models this year, about smart phones, of which about half will use the Android system.

LG hopes by 2012, the company will own the global smart phone market share to over 10%. Now, the three major mobile phone makers are in control of three-quarters of the global smart phone market.

LG today introduced the LG-KH 5200 to be South Korea’s second largest mobile operator KT is responsible for sales, it will work with Motorola earlier this year by South Korea’s largest mobile operator, SK Telecom announced Android smartphone MOTOROI in competition.

Samsung Electronics also plans to introduce Android phone this month.

LG is offering a smart phone equipped with a 3-inch touch screen, 500-megapixel camera and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, priced at about 573 U.S. dollars each.

The need to increase marketing expenditures in order to promote sales of inexpensive smart phones, LG mobile phone business last year’s fourth quarter, profit margins have been closer to zero. It is hoped that through the high-end smart phones to increase profit margins continue to decline in mobile phone.

LG and Samsung control 30% of the global handset market share, but they have not been able in the development of faster, more profitable market share in smart phones.

Samsung announced last month that it plans to sell smartphones in 2010 increased by two-fold.

LG mobile phone sales target for this year is 140 million, which last year sold 117 million mobile phones in the global handset market share of about 10%.
