New mobile phones announcements

LG Cosmos and LG Remarq QWERTY Phones are launched

The LG Cosmos for Verizon Wireless and LG Remarq for Sprint are both offering slide-out QWERTY keyboards and social network access.

LG recently unveiled two slide-out QWERTY phones for the mass-market, including the LG Cosmos for Verizon Wireless and the LG Remarq for Sprint. The LG Remarq is said to be the most eco-friendly of the two, and even comes with a pre-loaded Eco Calculator app that allows users to calculate CO2 reduction savings by walking or cycling as opposed to driving their car. The reduction is calculated in pounds of CO2 or trees planted.

LG Cosmos for Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless already offers the well-known LG enV3 QWERTY flip phone. For casual texters that love the idea of a slide-out QWERTY keyboard in addition to a numeric keypad, there’ll soon be the LG Cosmos though. The LG Cosmos will provide access to Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and other social networking sites, and its 1.3-megapixel camera can share pictures directly to online albums and Facebook. The phone also supports Bluetooth 2.1. Price: $30 / $80. Release: March 25 2010.

LG Remarq for Sprint

The LG Remarq will join the Samsung Reclaim in Sprint’s new line of ECO-QWERTY phones in May. LG promises that users can stay connected to their friends and post their latest pics with easy access to Facebook and Photobucket. In addition to a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the LG Remarq features a 1.3-megapixel camera, MP3 player with microSD slot, Stereo Bluetooth and instant messaging. The phone will be available in either dark silver or turquoise. Price: $20 / $70. Release: May 9 2010.
