New Samsung Memoir T929 camera phone
March 20th, 2010 by admin in samsung
Samsung Memoir T929 is an 8-megapixel camera phone that is provided by T-Mobile USA for a price of $249.99.
The design of the Samsung Memoir underlines that there is something shared between mobile phone and camera.
We don’t know whether the Memoir is a camera or a phone, but its looks elegant for sure. The size of the phone compiles 4.2 inches long by 2.1 inches wide by 0.6 inch thick. A 2.6-inch display takes the entire front surface of the phone. It supports 62,000 colors and the images look vibrant and sharp.
On the back there is the 8-megapixel-camera lens with a built-in retractable lens cover. A Xenon flash is also placed there. Unluckily there is no self-portrait mirror.
For texting there is a virtual QWERTY keyboard when you rotate your handset in landscape mode. The keyboard is spacious providing accurate typing.
The basic features of the Samsung Memoir are a phone book for 2,000 contacts, speakerphone, calendar, world clock, alarm, organizer, notepad, currency and unit converter. The higher features include stereo Bluetooth, GPS support, music player, a full HTML browser, voice command, and Web-based e-mail.
Surely, the camera in the Samsung Memoir is the main feature though the phone is greatly enhanced in all positions.
The 8-megapixel camera can shoot in seven resolutions, from 3,264×2,448 to 320×240. You can use the following settings: white balance presets, color effects, 8x digital zoom, three quality settings, a mosaic-shot mode and nine fun frames.
There are 12 preset scene settings for different conditions, for example, portrait, sports, landscape, beach, sunset, indoor, backlight, and others. There is a possibility to record videos in two resolutions (640×480 and 320×240) and in 3 modes: picture message mode, slow-motion video mode and normal mode. The quality of photos is indescribable. We’ve hardly ever seen such sharp photos with such accurate hues and absence of noise.
Among the pluses of the Samsung Memoir one can name its top-notch design that makes the Memoir look a real camera. Accordingly, the quality of photos is admirable. The opportunity to upload the photos taken directly to online sharing sites is exiting. And in general, the performance of the Memoir is great.
The absence of Wi-Fi is disappointing taking into consideration the Samsung Memoir’s Web browser of not an excellent quality. A touch screen is a bit slow.
The price that you probably give for this mobile phone is feasible as you pay for cool camera of a high performance.
Android-Based LG GT450 Swift phone
March 20th, 2010 by admin in LG
After toying around with the idea of releasing an android phone for quite some time, LG has gone on to register its second android based phone in the LG GT450 Swift smart phone. The phone has been dubbed as being a “a specialized social networking smart phone”, this phone has been made specifically for first time smart phone users, users who are looking for a quick and a straightforward method of accessing their social networking profiles on the move.
The phone is available in several colors, and LG made its revelation earlier this year at the CES. This android based device has a 3 inch color transflective TFT display, with a maximum on screen resolution of around 320 x 480 pixels. The device doesn’t sport a keypad and is equipped with a touch screen display instead.
The android operating system, Android 1.6/Donut in this case, provides a built-in keypad feature that can be used as a software substitute in place of a hardware keypad. The mobile phone comes with a 3.1 Mega pixel digital camera, with plenty of support added on to assist in taking wonderful photographs. The camera has an auto focus feature, allowing one to focus on a particular target when clicking pictures. With a CMOS type sensor, the camera looks to provide decent photographs and video. It supports the JPG format and can record videos in mp4 and 3GP formats.
Satellite navigation never was easy, with support for GPS and Geotagging, the phone boasts of having been equipped with two GPS modes – Assisted GPS and QuickGPS modes are available. An analog radio has been built into the device. Wireless internet is also supported through WiFi(at speeds of 54mbps).
The phone runs on a ARM Cortex-A8, has a clock speed of around 550 MHz with a 32Kb, being specifically provided for a built in data cache. The RAM capacity though is lower than in other mobile phone bundles that make it to the market. The phone is equipped with a 256 MB RAM, certainly a let-down as many smart phones feature a higher grade RAM in comparison to this device.
The device looks good overall with generic features like Bluetooth, USB support, MicroSD card support etc being incorporated in this device. The device is expected to roll out in April 2010 and LG is tightlipped about the pricing. With features that rely heavily on providing a good social networking experience, like similar smart phones released earlier, the cost will definitely prove to be a reckoning factor to success in the market.

March 20th, 2010 by admin in LG
The LG Versa is a touch-screen phone from Verizon Wireless that is sold with a variety of additional external modules for increasing the phone’s functionality. The screen of Versa gives a tactile feedback and in general the touch interface is rather responsive. Nevertheless, some applications have problems.
The LG Versa is equipped with a detachable QWERTY keyboard module. In order to add it you have to remove the battery cover. Adjusted, the module becomes a case, and even features the cutouts for the camera on its back. It has an external monochrome OLED display of 0.94 inch which shows time, date, battery and signal strength, caller ID. It provides two call buttons. When the module is added the Versa becomes an inch thicker and half an ounce heavier. The keyboard module is spacious and handy for texting. The keys are tactile. If not to use the additional QWERTY keyboard module, there is an opportunity to text with the help of the touch screen. The Versa has also a handwriting recognition.
Besides to all the essential features you will get full a Bluetooth support including stereo Bluetooth and file transfer, full HTML browser, GPS, EV-DO, Verizon’s services including music download, V Cast Video, V Cast Music, streaming video service. The LG Versa is available with a 2.0-megapixel camera with 5 resolutions and a LED flash. We liked the quality of taken photos.
The attractiveness of the LG Versa (touch-screen handset with an animated user interface) is not its only plus, the phone is fully equipped with features. They are: EV-DO, 2.0-megapixel camera, GPS, a full HTML browser, Flash Lite support. Some of the features come additionally, for example, a QWERTY keyboard module.
The bad point about the LG Versa is Web-browsing that is not brilliant. The absence of Wi-Fi is disappointing and sometimes the screen becomes unresponsive in some applications.
The LG Versa is a nice touch-screen phone with additional optional modules.
