Motorola Square QWERTY Phone Revealed

A hands-on image of an upcoming Motorola QWERTY phone offering a square slider design has leaked out.

Compact QWERTY phones aren’t exactly news in the mobile world, but a new Motorola QWERTY phone with a square slider design seems to be joining the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro later this year to become the two first Android phones of the kind. According to Boy Genius Report and DroidDog, the new Motorola phone will be powered by Android 2.1 and MotoBlur. Check out the latest version of MotoBlur in action in this video:

There’s no hardware specifications available for the new Motorola QWERTY phone, but like other compact Android phones, including the X10 Mini Pro, it should offer a 2.x-inch QVGA touchscreen. Based on the only hands-on image available of the phone so far, it also looks like it’ll offer a keyboard with buttons designed similarly to the Nokia Twist’s QWERTY keyboard buttons.

Price and availability of the new Motorola QWERTY phone is not yet known, and neither is the phone’s network support.
