Details of the LG Ally phone revealed

LG has revealed additional details about its Android-powered smartphone known as Ally. The  device – which is expected hit the streets on May 20 – will feature a sliding QWERTY keyboard, 3.2-inch touchscreen and run Android OS 2.1.

"LG Ally from Verizon with Google Android OSLG has yet to reveal the [smartphone's] processor speed, but did say this model will offer animated wallpapers, a feature that so far has only appeared in Android-based devices with 1 GHz processors," explained Ed Hardy of Brighthand.

"The company also says the smartphone is going to have a 3G cellular-wireless networking, a microSD memory card slot and a GPS receiver. Its camera will have a flash, but its resolution is not yet known."

Meanwhile, Phandroid’s Kevin Krause noted that the above-mentioned specs didn’t quite "line up" with the LG LU2300/Aloha like many were expecting.

"That phone has a 5MP camera, 3.5″ capacitive touchscreen, and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor," wrote Krause.

"While the slide-out QWERTY remains, looks like some earlier speculation that the phone will have a 600MHz ARM processor may end up being true."
