HTC Desire Now Available via US Cellular

HTC Desire is one of the top rated smart phones today and is sometimes billed as an iPhone Killer. Today, this powerful creation from the Taiwanese developer HTC finally arrives in the US with the help of US Cellular. This is the second out of the five Android phones that US Cellular promised to launch this year. US Cellular plans to release Samsung Galaxy S sometime in October followed by two unnamed LG smart phones shortly after. US Cellular currently sells the HTC Desire with a price tag of $199.95 with a two-year contract and a $70 mail-in rebate.

The HTC Desire features a strong 1 GHz Snapdragon processor with a 5 megapixel camera and a 3.7 inch AMOLED touch screen that renders images in vivid detail. The units are currently powered by Android 2.1 Eclair with HTC Sense. Its specs also boasts a variety of connectivity options such as the 802.11 b/g WiFi, Bluetooth, GPRS , EDGE, and 3G support.

Edward Perez, Vice President of Sales and Marketing Operations of US Cellular said: “With 160,000 Android-powered phones activated each day, there’s no question that they are among the hottest phones on the market right now.” HTC Desires from US Cellular are preloaded with apps such as My Contacts Backup, City ID, Tone Room Deluxe and Your Navigator Deluxe. To sweeten up the deal, US cellular also added an Overage Protection a Battery Swap along with the phone’s warranty.

HTC Desire got rave reviews from various websites. Techradar UK gave this phone 5 out of 5 stars and was chosen as a choice smart phone over the iPhone 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S. For a more detailed review check out this video from Mobile Burn:
