Samsung making 4G Android phone for Verizon

Samsung will join HTC in having one of the first 4G phones on Verizon’s network, a leak uncovered today. The SCH-i520 superficially resembles a Galaxy S phone and still uses Android 2.2, but has the requisite LTE support to get 4G access. A front camera is also new in the Gizmodo tip and would borrow loosely from the Nexus S as a result.

The OS still appears to use Samsung’s customized TouchWiz interface but, unlike the Fascinate, so far isn’t being forced to use Bing for search. Most other details aren’t known, but it may well use the same four-inch Super AMOLED screen as other Galaxy S models and could get the 1GHz processor and five-megapixel camera as a result.

Verizon is due to have two separate events at CES on January 6 and could introduce both the Incredible HD and the Samsung i520 at the same time.
