Motorola’s upcoming Cliq 2 handset for T-Mobile has been spotted today in a leak that suggests it will be a major upgrade. A source for Cellphone Signal said the Cliq 2, sometimes called “Begonia,” will be a high-end Android phone with a five-megapixel camera and possible calling over its 802.11n Wi-Fi. It may also permit WiFi VoIP calling. Like the original Cliq, the Cliq 2 will use a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, but here in a staggered honeycomb layout.
The unusual keyboard has led to speculation that the device may be slated to use Android 2.4 or 3.0 (Honeycomb). The Cliq 2 reportedly will also use an updated Motoblur interface. T-Mobile is focusing on strengthening its HSPA+ network in 2011, so the Cliq 2 may be Motorola’s first HSPA+ phone.
Motorola is expected to debut the phone at CES in January and may ship it as soon as January 19.
