HTC EVO Shift 4G Shows Up At Amazon

Amazon is usually pretty good about not breaking their retail listing street dates early, as opposed to little websites in Europe or Southeast Asia or some place. But, this time, the big guy messed. Amazon has posted early the listing for the HTC EVO Shift 4G, the anticipated upcoming 4G Android phone from the Sprint. However, there isn’t much there on the phone, and some information seems to be copy and pasted from the first HTC EVO 4G.

Note, this isn’t some joker trying to sell the phone on the Amazon Marketplace or anything. This phone listing is in Amazon Wireless, their mobile phone sub-site that sells the phone with a service contract. Anyway, the listing features a user-submitted image of the EVO Shift from one of the spycam leaks. Officially, the specs listed show only a 8-megapixel camera with HD video and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Sounds great, right? Until you realize that it also makes mention to “released in June, 2010″. Yeah, it appears a majority of the information about this phone was copy and pasted from the page for the HTC EVO 4G.
The dimensions of the phone appear to be right. We know it will be smaller than the EVO 4G (3.6-inch screen, compared to the EVO’s 4.3-inch screen), and the listed dimensions show it to be smaller and lighter than its big brother. 4.8 inches by 2.6 inches by 0.5 inches is the old EVO 4G. While the new EVO Shift 4G on the Amazon page is listed as 4.5 inches by 2.2 inches by 0.5 inches. It’s also a bit lighter too, 4.5 ounces compared to the EVO 4G’s 6.0 ounces. Not bad, eh.
Pricing is typical, $600 off-contract, $200 on contract. Trying to buy the phone sends to you a page that says “We’re sorry. The address you entered is not a functioning page on our site.” Looks like you’ll have to wait if you want this phone.
