HTC plans to present Facebook phone at 2011 MWC

According to gadget market rumor mills, the 2011 Mobile World Congress (MWC) will see a ‘Facebook Phone’ coming out.

Rumors about Facebook Phone doing the rounds started long back. Earlier in 2010, many market analysts predicted the possibility of Facebook phone, but Mark Zuckerberg’s social networking platform with more than 500 million active users rejected the idea saying that company was focussing only on web platform and mobile applications.

The news on Facebook Phone gained momentum once again with the emergence of new rumors that a Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturer, HTC may launch the Facebook Phone at the 2011 MWC. Many media houses reported that HTC Facebook phone will have an exclusive Facebook application which provides complete Facebook access to users.

Facebook Phone is expected to have a QWERTY keypad for better typing and easy connectivity. Other features may include voice calling, direct integration of Facebook chat and news feeds. This new phone will also have homescreen widgets and other connectivity options.

The upcoming Facebook phone will provide easy access to Facebook while on the go. Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, is planning to step into the handset market which is controlled by giants like Apple, Nokia and most importantly their big rival Google.
