New Samsung YP-MB2 Galaxy Android PMP pictures available
August 14th, 2010 by admin in samsung
The Samsung YP-MB2 may not be the only phone-sized portable media player running Google Android on the horizon anymore. But this iPod touch competitor will always have a special place in our hearts… because it just looks so darn much like an iPod touch.

The YP-MB2 also happens to have some pretty awesome specs including a 1GHz processor and 4 inch Super AMOLED display. Unlike the iPod touch, it also supports Bluetooth and has a camera. Oh yeah, and it runs Google Android 2.1.
Samsung still hasn’t officially announced the YP-MB2 yet, but we’ve seen plenty of evidence that it’s coming to market soon.
Now Samsung Hub has managed to track down the first real-world photos of the portable media player. It looks pretty slick, with directional pad of some sort at the bottom as well as back and menu keys. There’s a bit of chrome around the edges, and really, the whole thing just looks an awful lot like an iPod touch — until you turn it over and see the camera and white cover on the back.
Korean Corby: Samsung SHW-A250
August 14th, 2010 by admin in samsung
Samsung is out with another Korea-only device marked as SHW-A250. The all-touchscreen phone resembles the original Corby product with such specs as 2.8-inch touchscreen, 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity, media player and a microSD memory card slot. In addition, there are the usual country-specific features such as SOS function, subway maps as well as T-DMB mobile TV receiver.
Two of Korea’s leading mobile operators, SK Telecom and KT, will both sell the A250. SKT will offer it in black or white, while KT will also sell brown and pink versions. The price is 500,000 won, which is about $423, and I guess that’s the contract-free price.
Again, this isn’t something you could get if you’re living in the Western part of the world (which probably is the case according to our stats) and it’s also not something you need. If you like how the Samsung A250 sounds, grab the original Corby phone – it’s pretty much the same device without the mentioned subway maps and mobile TV, which you can’t use anyways…

Samsung i917 Cetus will run Windows Phone 7
July 30th, 2010 by admin in samsung
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group has just outed one of the first Windows Phone 7 devices, the Samsung Cetus.
We’ve heard of the Cetus before, but then rumor had it that it will be an Android device and its model number would be i8700. That might have changed in the mean time, or there may be a Cetus range of Samsung smartphones in the making.
We’ve also heard in the past that Samsung has big plans for Windows Phone 7, with up to 4 devices rumored to make up the first batch of WP7 smartphones from the Korean maker.
And now for the specs of the Cetus. What we know thus far is that it will have a 4″ AMOLED or presumably Super AMOLED display with a WVGA (480 x 800) resolution, 5 MP rear camera and VGA front-facing camera, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11n, FM Radio, microUSB port and Bluetooth 2.1.
There are, naturally, no details on availability or pricing at this point, but expect it around Q4 this year for a price that is similar to that of the Android-powered Galaxy S, since their specs are very similar.
Samsung Galaxy Q Details Leaked
July 27th, 2010 by admin in samsung
Samsung’s flagship Android phone the Galaxy S has been making waves over the past few weeks worldwide without doubt. Boasting of amazing specs and an equally gorgeous display, the device was every Android users’ dream come true.
That said, there is always the obvious question. What next? How can Samsung better an already great device? Well, the answer might be in the form of the Galaxy Q - a new product that Samsung is apparently prepping. But we have our doubts if the Galaxy Q can be considered an “upgrade” to the Galaxy S. Read on to find out why.
3G (HSDPA 7.2Mbps, HSUPA 5.76Mbps): 900/1900/2100 MHz
- Processor: 1GHz Hummingbird
- Dimensions (HxWxD): 4.8″x2.72″x0.37″ (120mm x 68mm x 9.25mm)
- Display: 3″ (720×480 px) SuperAMOLED
- Battery: 1500 mAh
- Performance: 7.5 hours; standby: 510 hours
- User interface: Multi-touchscreen, QWERTY keypad and optical touchpad
- Rear camera: 8 MPx with LED flash (HD video)
- Front camera: 1.3 MPx
- Connectivity: Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi b/g/n, A-GPS, Micro USB, Mini HDMI
- Internal Memory 16 Gb
- MicroSD slot for cards up to 32Gb
The Galaxy Q is believed to be a smaller version of the Galaxy S with a QWERTY keyboard. The device would be powered by the same 1GHz Hummingbird CPU and would pack in 16GB of memory. Most features would be similar to that of the Galaxy S. However, there are exceptions. The camera, a major disappointment for some in case of the Galaxy S (thanks to the lack of flash) seems to have been rectified. The Galaxy Q would ship with an 8 megapixel camera and LED flash. If that wasn’t all, the front camera too has been upgraded from a VGA one on the Galaxy S to a 1.3 megapixel one. The Galaxy Q when launched, would ship with Android 2.2.
If those feature additions made you happy, there are some other things that you might not particularly like. For example, that gorgeous 4-inch screen of the Galaxy S has been reduced by a whole inch making it a puny little 3 -inch display. To make things worse, the resolution too sees a dip with a 720*480 S-AMOLED screen on the Galaxy Q - which is criminal when you think of the 800*480 pixel display of the Galaxy S. In fact all these things makes it quite obvious that the Galaxy Q is certainly not an upgrade to the Galaxy S (as mentioned earlier) - but more of an addition to Samsung’s Galaxy portfolio
So, what do you folks think about the Galaxy Q? Leave us a comment and let us know.
Samsung Captivate Android phone launched by AT&T
July 18th, 2010 by admin in samsung
AT&T has followed that up with perhaps its most impressive Android phone to date, the Samsung Captivate.
The Captivate has a 4-inch, Super AMOLED touch screen, a 1-GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, and a 5-megapixel camera on the back. Like all the Galaxy S phones, the Captivate’s software is a mixture of Android 2.1, Samsung’s TouchWiz add-ons, and AT&T’s picks.
Mobile Managing Editor Sascha Segan had some hands on time with the phone and fears that AT&T’s add-ons are where things get tricky for the Captivate. He specifically mentioned that “AT&T’s built-in software is also more redundant and more irritating than other carrier’s builds”.

The Stride is a very basic flip phone with an alphanumeric keyboard.
